Title: Surreal Vision team: Real-time, always on embedded machine perception
Abstract: Surreal Vision is world team focused on machine perception: teach machine to model and understand 3D scenes – generating an accurate representation of the real world in the virtual and augmented world. We are a full stack team do research across silicon, sensing, SLAM, 3D dense reconstruction, cloud computing and artificial intelligence. We collaborate closely to bring up next generation VR/AR devices to enable a new level of presence and telepresence, allowing you to move around the real world and interact with real-world objects from within VR/AR.
Bio: Beipeng Mu is a research scientist with the surreal machine perception team at Oculus Research. Her research focuses on developing alternative sensing technologies to enable better understanding the 3D environment and human-environment interactions. Her background spans across machine learning, statistics, localization and mapping, control and planning. She obtained a Ph.D degree in autonomy from MIT in 2016.
