Introduction
- Purpose of the Course:
Build and Test Elementary Digital and Analog Circuits
- Goals of the Course:
Equipment Use, Construction and Testing of Circuits, P-Spice Simulation Program
Course Information
- ENEE 206 Lab Mannual - Bookstore
- General Information
- Specifics of each laboratory experiment
- Appendix containing Digital Circuits examples run in P-Spice
- Common Chips used in the course - terminal descriptions
- Manuals on Digital Oscilloscope and Logic Analyzer
Course Policies
- Attendance/On-Time
- Laboratory Make-Up's - Within one week of the start of the scheduled Lab
- Laboratory Report - Due one week after the scheduled start of the Lab
- Always turn in something on a Laboratory experiment, either on time or late; it is better than zero.
General Procedures for a given Laboratory Experiment
- Preparation: Read background material and specifics for the Lab incluting questions that are being asked. Have circuit drawins and specific components/values indicated. Do a P-Spice Simulation of the circuit.
- Partners
- Come to the scheduled Lab session and build the circuit and obtain experimental data.
- Laboratory Report: Do Analysis and Write-up the results.
- Quality
P-Spice Circuit Simulations
- We will use Student Version initially and then transit to Full Version
- ASC Room - 0305 EAB
- JAS Room - 2446 AVW
- Open Lab - 0309 EGR
- Tutorial - First Week
- Analog Circuits - Do first two examples in Mayergoyz and Lawson Textbook for ENEE 204, Section 4.7, pages 126 - 134.
- Digital Circuits - Do both examples in Appendix B of the course's Lab Mannual.
- Make-Up for First Week P-Spice Tutorial
- Present a hard copy of the circuit and it's results for each of the above four examples. Turn them in to your TA at your next session.
Laboratory 1 - Introduction to Test and Measurement Equipment
- Purpose - Learn how to use the Signal Generator, DMM, Digital Oscilloscope, and Printer.
- Source
Signal Generator - Amplitude, Frequencey, Shape
- Measurement Equipments
DMM for measuring and setting voltage amplitude
Digital Oscilloscope for measuring all properties of the signal pluls perform mathematical operations like subtracting two signals.
- Background Reading - Read appendix D entitled, "Getting Started Guide for the HP54501A Digitizing Oscilloscope." Make certain that you read the laboratory procedure ahead of time and answer the Pre-lab questions (p. 15) about the reading.
