Title: An Introduction to Hadoop and its Use on a Smaller Scale

Abstract: In the session, we will introduce Hadoop and explain its component parts and how Hadoop components interact act with the processing of large sets of data.

From this foundation the presentation will show how this architecture has been a benefit to the development of artificial intelligence.  This new wave of development of artificial intelligence has been pushing the boundaries of the application of artificial intelligence to solve more commonplace problems by giving examples and discussing the success.

We will also discuss how the power of Hadoop can be used not only for storage and analysis of very large data sets but can also be applied to smaller scale processing needs and how to architect a Hadoop system that functions at the smaller scales of research.

Biography: Peter Wisner has always been at the forefront of technology. In an over 20-year career with Lockheed Martin, supporting various customers around Philadelphia, PA and in Maryland, Mr. Wisner has continually developed his technical skills through working with the latest technologies and emerging computer science techniques and tools. Mr. Wisner has been at the forefront of emerging software technologies including Big Data, Software Development Kits (SDKs), Cloud Computing, and Application Program Interfaces (APIs). Mr. Wisner is currently a Principle Software Engineer for Lockheed Martin. He graduated from Drexel University in 1996.
