Title: Power delivery and impedance calculations using ray tracing for chaotic cavities

Abstract:

Solving for the electromagnetic fields in a chaotic cavity connected by apertures or ports is an important problem for scientists and researchers. People in these fields often refer to various statistical methods to solve such problems as computational methods can prove to be too time consuming and expensive. In this work, in lieu of computational methods, we use optical ray tracing to solve problems of power delivery and cavity impedance calculations. For power delivery, a ray tracing code was developed that calculated the power delivered from one port to another in a 2D chaotic cavity. These results were then compared with other established methods such as the Dynamical Energy Analysis (DEA) and the Power Balance Method (PWB). In the other part of this work, the ray tracing codes were used to calculate the impedance in a 2D chaotic bowtie cavity using previously established Short Orbit Formulation (SOF). These results were compared with computational software HFSS.
