Long gone are the days when computer use was reserved for the experts. People young and old have been exposed to products that have gone through decades of user interface evolution, and they have come to expect a lot from the devices that they use on a day-to-day basis. As designers of these devices, it is no longer sufficient for today's CS graduates to just create functional, efficient, maintainable, and secure solutions -- our creations must be usable, engaging, and fun. But when it comes to software and devices that impact people's health, safety is of the utmost importance. Epic is a healthcare software company that faces this design challenge every single day.
