Faculty, Staff, and Students Honored at Department Awards Reception

Faculty, staff, and students were honored at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Welcome Back Reception on September 13, 2005. Chair and Professor Patrick O’Shea spoke at the event and presented awards to the honorees, who were recognized for their achievement and service to the Department.

Assistant Professor Thomas Murphy (pictured) received the George Corcoran Memorial Award for faculty, presented annually to a young faculty member who has shown exemplary contributions to teaching and educational leadership. Graduate Teaching Assistants Quoc Lai and Alfred Haas were presented with the George Corcoran Memorial Award for students in recognition for their excellence in teaching.

Vivian Lu was given the ECE Staff Award for her outstanding service to faculty, staff, and students.

Recent Ph.D. graduate Mehdi Kalantari received the ECE Graduate Student Service Award in recognition of his exceptional service to the Department.

Staff also received awards in recognition of extended service to the Department. Among the honorees were: Vivian Lu (5 years), LaShanna Young (5 years), Cliff Russell (5 years), Peter Krusen of the Laboratory for Physical Sciences (5 years), Teresa Moore (15 years), and Patsy Keehn (25 years).
