Venkatesan Named Honorary Guest Professor at Tsinghua University

Dr. T. Venky Venkatesan (ECE/PHY) was recently named an Honorary Guest Professor at Tsinghua University at a ceremony in Beijing, China. He was elected to a three-year honorary professorship term by the faculty at Tsinghua.

Members from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chairman of the Physics Department and other officials from the University were present at the ceremony, and Dr. Venkatesan also met with the President of the University. During his visit, Venkatesan gave a lecture on recent research results in the area of magnetism in oxide based thin films.

Dr. Venkatesan has previously worked collaboratively on research with both Tsinghua University and Beijing University in the area of synthesis of novel oxide based materials with interesting magnetic, optical and electronic properties.
