Waks Receives ARO Young Investigator Award

Prof. Edo Waks

ECE Assistant Professor Edo Waks received an Army Research Office (ARO) Young Investigator Award. The grant is worth $50k per year for three years.

Dr. Waks' research interests include studying the application of photonic crystals to quantum information processing, as well as the use of photonic crystals for practical tools in optical telecommunication and sensing.

Waks earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University while working in the area of quantum optics and quantum information.

The ARO Young Investigator Program recognizes young faculty less than five years out of doctoral studies who show exceptional promise for creative research. The objectives of this program are to attract outstanding faculty members to the army research program, support innovative research and encourage teaching and research careers.
