Prof. Anthony Ephremides (ECE/ISR), the Cynthia Kim Eminent Professor of Information Technology in the A. James Clark School of Engineering, recently completed a series of four lectures as Distinguished Lecturer of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Communications Society. During his lecture tour, he spoke at:
  • Australian National University (ANU), Canberra, Australia, on Dec. 14, 2009

  • University of Adelaide, Adelaide, South Australia, on Dec 16

  • University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, on Dec 18

  • Canterbury University, Christchurch, New Zealand, on Dec 21
Prof. Ephremides' lectures were on the subject of Cooperative Wireless Networking. The lectures were coordinated in part through the seeds of cooperation planted between the University of Maryland's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and Institute for Systems Research (ISR) and researchers at ANU and Canterbury University.

The IEEE Communications Society's distinguished lecturers program includes a select small group of researchers from around the world who receive invitations from local chapters of the Society to visit them and lecture on the most recent and advanced topics of their research. Dr. Ephremides has participated in this type of tour before, both in the United States and abroad.
