Five ECE Students Selected for Fellowships

Five ECE students have been selected for Clark School graduate fellowship awards.

Mohamed Fahmi, advised by Prof. Kawthar Zaki, was chosen as the winner of the Clark School Litton Industries Fellowship. The award, worth $12,000, was established by Litton Industries to support outstanding full-time graduate students in pursuit of a doctorate degree in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering who are committed to a teaching career in engineering education.

Four other students were selected as ECE Distinguished Dissertation Fellows. These $5,000 fellowships are awarded to outstanding students in the final stages of their dissertation work in recognition of of the students' research excellence.

The ECE Distinguished Dissertation Fellows are: Shan He, advised by Prof. Min Wu (ECE/UMIACS) ; Vishal Khandelwal, advised by Prof. Ankur Srivastava; and Peng Qiu and Ahmed Sadek, both advised by Prof. K. J. Ray Liu (ECE/ISR) .

The following ECE faculty members served on the committee to select the fellowship recipients for both competitions: Committee Chair Prof. Thomas Antonsen (ECE/PHY), Prof. Alexander Barg (ECE/ISR), Prof. Manoj Franklin, and Prof. Martin Peckerar.
