Whiting-Turner Infrastructure Engineering Laboratories

A new, state-of-the-art design connects all laboratory spaces along a dramatic glass-walled, curved hallway, grouping together structures, materials, soils, asphalt, and sample preparation areas into “dirty” and “clean” lab areas. The redesigned space and top-of-the-line equipment will enable students to: 

• Develop a strong fundamental understanding of the behaviors of  materials employed in infrastructure design
• Master Quality Assurance testing techniques for infrastructure construction
• Learn cutting-edge non destructive evaluation approaches for monitoring the structural health of bridges, buildings, and other critical infrastructure assets
• Apply lessons learned to tackle critical issues ranging from bridge and roadway safety and water resource management to storm and earthquake resilience and transportation systems development​
