General Scholarship Information

New freshmen who apply to the University of Maryland are automatically considered for the university's merit-based scholarships. There is no application necessary and you will be notified with your acceptance information. It is very important for new students to complete their applications for admission by the priority deadline of November 1 in order to be considered for the university's merit-based scholarships. New freshman will be automatically reviewed for scholarships. Award letters should go out during the first week of April.

New transfer students should complete the online scholarship application. For best consideration, complete the application by May 1 for the upcoming academic year. Award letters will go out over the summer.

Clark School and ECE Scholarships

The A. James Clark School of Engineering offers a variety of scholarships for both incoming and returning engineering students. Financial awards are based on merit and/or need. Students should complete an application by February 15 of each year. For information on University's financial aid process, please visit the Office of Student Financial Aid.

Additionally, the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering offers a number of merit and/or need-based scholarships for current ECE students.  Scholarship applications are typically available towards the end of the Spring semester.  Scholarship decisions will typically go out late in the Summer, prior to the start of the Fall semester.  Please note that only students selected for a scholarship will be notified by the Clark School and the ECE Department.
