MEI ITA Evaluation and Preparation

All international students serving as teaching assistants in the fall are required to take the International Teaching Assistant Evaluation given by the Maryland English Institute (MEI).

Who should attend? Mandatory for all international students serving as teaching assistants in the fall. Our office will contact you with more information about this evaluation over the summer.

To help prepare you for this evaluation, ECE will be holding the following prepatory session.

Who should attend? This session is mandatory for all international students serving as teaching assistants in the fall.

Payroll and Benefits Orientation 

The Payroll Office of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering will conduct two orientation sessions to provide forms and information needed to complete your appointment. International students should bring their passports and I-20s, and US citizens and permanent residents should bring their driver's licenses. If possible, all students should bring their bank account information to set-up direct deposit. To view descriptions of health benefit plans and insurance premiums for each plan prior to the payroll orientation, visit the University Human Resources website.

ECE TA Orientation

This orientation will prepare you for your first semester as a Teaching Assistant.

Who should attend? This orientation is mandatory for all students who will be serving as a new TA in the fall, including fellows.

ECE Graduate Student Advising

The ECE Graduate Studies Office will hold an MS and PhD advising session to review degree requirements and answer any questions you may have about the graduate program.
