Directory ID and Email Account

Before being able to access most online resources at the University, you must establish your directory ID and associated password. To establish a directory ID, which will also serve as your university email account, visit https://identity.umd.edu.

Once you have established your university email account, please add yourself to the ECE graduate student listserv by emailing listserv@listserv.umd.edu with the message "subscribe ece-gradstudents <Your Name>" in the body of the email. All important announcements are sent to graduate students through this listserv.

Course Registration

Over the summer, you should begin thinking about what classes you would like to take in your first semester. Consult with your academic advisor to help you choose your classes. You will also want to refer to the ECE Graduate Handbook, which outlines course requirements and provides typical course sequences for PhD students. Our graduate courses website outlines ECE courses that are regularly on offer; we also provide a list of recently offered courses.

You can view the schedule of classes and register online at  Testudo. In order to register for courses, you will need to establish a directory ID and password (see above), which will also serve as your official university email address. Also, please be aware of the Registrar's deadlines for graduate students. You may be financially liable if you drop a course after the first five days of classes without simultaneously adding one of equal credit hours, even if you have tuition remission.

The ECE Graduate Handbook

The ECE Graduate Handbook contains all the rules and regulations about our graduate programs. You should refer to it whenever you have a question concerning degree requirements.
