Alumnus Modiano Earns Tenure at MIT

Alumnus and Associate Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics Dr. Eytan Modiano recently earned tenure at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Modiano, who joined the ECE department in 1987, was advised by Professor Anthony Ephremides (ECE/ISR) for his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and graduated in 1992 from the University of Maryland. Along with fellow alumni Scott Corson, Rajiv Laroia, and Leandros Tassiulas, Modiano was among the first crop of top students who studied at Maryland after the establishment of the Institute of Systems Research in the mid 1980's.

Modiano is a specialist in optical and ad hoc wireless networks and will be the Technical Program Chair at next year's IEEE INFOCOM conference.

"Eytan is one of the best known and respected researchers in the field worldwide," said Ephremides. "We are proud to have such distinguished graduates."
