Alumnus Qiu Joins University of Texas Faculty

Peng Qiu, Ph. D. 2007

ECE alumnus Peng Qiu has joined the Department of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology as Assistant Professor at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Qiu received his Ph. D. degree at the University of Maryland in 2007 and was advised by Prof. K. J. Ray Liu.

Peng has been a postdoc with Stanford Medical School. The results of his PhD dissertation "Model-Based Genomic/Proteomic Signal Processing in Cancer Diagnosis and Prediction" were featured in IEEE 125th Anniversary Media Event.

In 2007, Qiu received the ECE Outstanding Dissertation Fellowship.
