Prof. Mark Shayman

Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Mark Shayman has received a $50,000 tech-transfer award from Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO). The award will enable Shayman to commercialize software he developed that can detect and eliminate "denial of service" (DoS) attacks on Internet sites. These attacks are designed to shut down a network by flooding it with useless traffic.

Through TEDCO's University Technology Development Fund, award recipients can test the feasibility of their inventions, develop prototypes, and expand the scope of their patents to transfer their technology into commercial ventures.

More information can be found on the Maryland TEDCO web site.
