Name: Samantha Rodriguez Major: Computer Engineering Extracurriculars: As a student, I am a UTF for ENEE101. Additionally, I am a member of the Multiracial Biracial Student Association. Professionally, I have interned at John Hopkins’ Applied Physics Laboratory working in the Air Missile Defense Sector. Why did you become a peer mentor? I became a peer mentor because I wanted to be more involved in the ECE community. Through this community, I interact with students and faculty of diverse interests and backgrounds. I love the depth and engagement of this community which I hope to foster. As a peer mentor I strive to cultivate an environment of support, belonging, and growth. |

Name: Madaleine Tewey Major: Computer Engineering Extracurriculars: I'm currently the Student Engagement Chair for Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering organization here on campus. I'm also involved with engineering projects in the Balloon Payload Program, where we create and launch scientific payloads on high-altitude weather balloons. Why did you become a peer mentor? I know that transitioning into college isn’t always so straightforward- there’s a lot to adapt to within your first year. What helped my transition was the advice and help I received from upperclassmen. I want to give back to our community and pass on what I’ve learned to the next first-year students. |
