Title: Diamond silicon-vacancy quantum memories for heterogeneous quantum networking
Abstract: This proposal addresses these memory and interface challenges through two complementary directions.
First, we investigate strain engineering of SiV centers using all-optical reconfiguration. Increasing the ground-state orbital splitting can suppress thermally driven phonon transitions, while picosecond optical irradiation offers local, non-volatile strain modification without continuously applied external fields. Our objective is to assess this route toward longer spin coherence near 4 K; improved spin coherence after optical reconfiguration remains to be experimentally established.
Second, we develop the theory and numerical design of synthetic time-domain conversion(STC) to transform photons into compatible temporal modes. Building on programmable linear transformations in the synthetic time dimension, this approach aims to reshape the coherent photon envelope within a chosen temporal-mode basis while preserving the encoded quantum information. The resulting designs will be evaluated through mode overlap and optical loss, connecting memory coherence and photon compatibility to the performance of the BSM-based interconnect.
