ECE Special Seminar:
A Novel Embedded OTP Non-Volatile Memory Technology Using Standard CMOS Logic Process
Dr. Jack Peng, University of Maryland ECE/Clark School Alumnus, Founder & CEO of Kilopass Technology
3:00 - 4:00 pm
A.V. Williams, Rm. 2460
Dr. Peng's talk will begin with an introduction in which he will share his academic experience, as well as his industrial experience in Silicon Valley. He will discuss how he started Kilopass Technology ( http://www.kilopass.com ) and KLP Logic, the China company ( http://www.kilopass.com.cn ), based on his inventions in Memory Technology. The second half of his presentation will focus on a technical talk, and the discussion will end with a question and answer session.
Abstract:
A Novel Embedded one time programmable (OTP) nonvolatile memory (VNM), using only Standard Foundry Logic Process is described. IP modules with densities from 1Kb to 1Mb were constructed and tested. Reliability data is presented for 1Mb memory Modules fabricated in 0.18um foundry process.
Biography:
Dr. Peng has over 23 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, with 15 years specialized in the field of FLASH, EPROM, and FPGA development. Before founding Kilopass, Dr. Peng held senior positions of Technology Development at Actel Corporation, Gatefield, and AMD where he was in charge of developing ERPOM, Flash, EEPROM, PLD and FLASH-based FPGA technology. Dr. Peng holds over 25 US patents and published over 27 technical papers. Dr. Peng holds a MS and a Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Parks, and a BS degree from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, China.
Dr. Peng is founder and formal CEO of Kilopass Technology ( http://www.kilopass.com ), and now he is starting his 2nd start up company KLP Logic Inc, which is spin off from Kilopass Technology.
Dr. Peng is currently founder, Chairman and President of the new company.
