Alum Mohamed Zahran Receives IEEE Computer Society Award

Alum Mohamed Zahran (ECE Ph.D. 2003) has been named among the first designated IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Contributors.  This award was established by the IEEE Computer Society in 2021 as part of the Society’s 75th Anniversary.  Distinguished Contributors are chosen based on their technical and innovative expertise, as well as their volunteer commitment to membership in the Society.  The IEEE Computer Society was established to provide access to computer science research, analysis, and information. 

Dr. Zahran is a Professor in the Computer Science Department of the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University.  His research interests include heterogeneous architectures, hardware/software interaction, and AI support for architecture.  He is a senior member of IEEE, senior member of ACE, and Sigma Xi scientific honor society.  He received his Ph.D. from ECE in 2003 under the guidance of Professor Manoj Franklin.
