ECE Climbs in U.S. News Rankings

The U.S. News & World Report's 2011 America's Best Graduate Schools survey ranked the University of Maryland's Electrical Engineering program #14 in the nation, up from #15 last year. Maryland's Electrical Engineering program was ranked 14th out of a total of 173 programs, placing it in the 92nd percentile in the nation. No ranking for Computer Engineering was offered in this year's survey.

Both the undergraduate and graduate programs in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Maryland are ranked in the top ten among all public programs in the nation. In the latest U.S. News & World Report's undergraduate programs survey, Computer Engineering was ranked #16 in the nation, while Electrical Engineering was ranked #17.

"Our faculty, staff and students have been doing a tremendous job in advancing our programs," said Dr. Patrick O'Shea, Chairman of Maryland's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. "We are very proud of these rankings, and believe it is a reflection of the collective efforts of our department."

The Clark School of Engineering placed #22 among all schools and #10 among public engineering programs. Maryland's Computer Science program was ranked #14, while Maryland's Physics program was also ranked #14.
