She was nominated for her “consummate professionalism, collaborative spirit, creative drive, infectious enthusiasm and unswerving dedication to serving those around her.”
There are three separate categories for the University's Advisor of the Year award: (1) professional advisor, (2) faculty, and (3) graduate student. Meriam was selected as the winner of the graduate student category from a very competitive pool of candidates campus-wide. She was nominated by her supervisor, Associate Director of Undergraduate & Administrative Affairs Steve Norton, for her “consummate professionalism, collaborative spirit, creative drive, infectious enthusiasm and unswerving dedication to serving those around her.”
This honor, which includes a $1,000 cash award, is "a small tribute and thank you for the many contributions she has made," said Dr. Judith Bell, Director of Undergraduate Academic and Administrative Affairs for the ECE Department. "Many of us have fond memories of the wonderful program for the ECE International Day that Meriam helped organize last month."
Meriam is graduating this weekend and will begin her new position at Sprint-Nextel this summer.
