A representative from the Boren Scholarship Program, Sarah Gleisner, will be on campus on Monday, October 29 to present an overview of the Boren Scholarship and answer your questions. RSVP to nsepboren@umd.edu as space is limited. The Boren Scholarship is aimed at undergraduates who want to study abroad for one or two semesters (preferably) in 2013-14 in non-traditional regions and countries, and who are interested in learning the languages of those areas. Eligible regions include Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. (Boren Scholarships MAY NOT be used for study in Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.) Boren Scholarships for 2013-14 may be used for study abroad in Summer 2013, Fall 2013 and/or Spring 2014. The Boren Scholarship is a U.S. Government-funded award that seeks applicants who have a strong interest in future Government service; the award carries a one-year service expectation.
