ECE Alumnus Xiaobo Tan Wins NSF CAREER Award

ECE alumnus and current Michigan State University Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Xiaobo Tan has won a National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award for his research, "Dexterous Biomimetic Micromanipulation Using Artificial Muscles: Modeling, Sensing and Control."

At MSU, Tan directs the Smart Microsystems Laboratory and is part of an interdisciplinary research team on High Assurance Systems. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2002 and was a research associate with the Institute for Systems Research (ISR). He was co-advised by Professor John S. Baras (ECE/ISR) and Professor P.S. Krishnaprasad (ECE/ISR). He also worked with Associate Professor Reza Ghodssi (ECE/ISR) .
