Iliadis Receives NSF Grant for Advanced Biosensor Technology Research

Agis Iliadis
The objective of the research is to develop ultra-sensitive biosensors capable of detecting single protein molecules in air and liquid environments, and touch pressure sensors for artificial skin applications.
The development of this technology could have an enormous impact on health care by improving the detection of pathogens and monitoring of illnesses at a substantially reduced time and cost. The research will also contribute significantly to treating prosthetic limb and permanent nerve damage patients through the development of touch pressure sensor arrays for artificial skin, and will also assist environmental monitoring of hazardous biomaterials by providing early warning detection.
