Title: Security and Resource Allocation for Edge and Autonomous Systems
 
Abstract:
In this proposal, we address problems across four areas in cybersecurity and network resource allocation for next generation edge and autonomous systems. Chapter 1 addresses the challenge of secure key generation in FIDO2 authentication systems, focusing on achieving reliable passwordless authentication through biometric sensor characteristics. Chapter 2 examines the cybersecurity demands of robotics-focused autonomous Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), where a sensor-fusion approach is proposed to enable real-time anomaly detection to maintain system integrity in defense-related contexts. Chapter 3 explores security for Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) facing Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs), proposing a game-theoretic defense framework that combines probabilistic network defenses and real-time, sensor-based anomaly detection to counter data-poisoning attacks. Finally, Chapter 4 presents an adaptive resource allocation approach for edge networks within Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) architectures, proposing a two-tier scheduling methodology within the centralized unit control plane (CU-CP) that leverages network programmability to dynamically adjust resources in order to achieve Quality of Service (QoS) requirements for applications like augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) and the Internet of Things (IoT).
