Title: Non-reciprocal Devices for Superconducting Circuits

Abstract: Non-reciprocity is vital for protecting superconducting qubits from undesired back-propagation and ensuring directional routing of quantum information. Commercial cryogenic non-reciprocal components, however, rely on permanent magnets to break time-reversal symmetry, making them bulky and unsuitable for on-chip integration in scalable quantum computing architectures. Spatio-temporal modulation has emerged as a promising alternative, demonstrating success in photonics and room-temperature electronics. In this proposal, we introduce two distinct approaches to achieve non-reciprocal transmission through spatio-temporal modulation. The first approach applies modulation to the resonance frequencies of two coupled resonators, while the second modulates the coupling coefficients at multiple sites between a single resonator and a waveguide. With most of the work on the first approach completed, this proposal is structured into two parts: presenting the results of the first approach and outlining the implementation plan for the second.
