Special Seminar
Divided attention and automatic change detection in hearing
Laurent Demany
Paris
Abstract
In the first part of this talk, I will present evidence that attention can be directed simultaneously to two concurrent melodies which are perceived as separate streams. Then, I will report new results about the auditory "enhancement" phenomenon, which is a form of automatic change detection; the possible role of "frequency-shift detectors" in enhancement will be discussed.
