Bhattacharyya Receives Agilent Grant for Wireless Simulation Research

Associate Professor Dr. Shuvra Bhattacharyya (ECE/UMIACS) received a grant worth $52,184 from Agilent Technologies to support his research project titled "Simulation-oriented Scheduling."

The objective of the project is to address the challenges of simulating modern wireless communication systems. Due to the complexity of these systems, existing simulation methods take too much time and too much memory to run efficiently on desktop workstations. Since 2004, Bhattacharyya and his Ph.D. students Chia-Jui (Jerry) Hsu and Ming-Yung Ko, have made significant progress on this problem, and are helping to integrate these advances into Agilent's next commercial software release.

This grant will support Bhattacharyya’s research in this area through 2006.
