ECEGSA Awards Recognize Students, Staff for Service

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Graduate Student Association (ECEGSA) held its annual awards ceremony on Friday, April 28, 2006. ECE Department Chair Dr. Patrick O’Shea and ECEGSA President Mainak Sen gave awards to students and staff to honor their accomplishments in the Department.

Among those recognized were Mehdi Kalantari Khandani, last year’s ECEGSA president, as well as the other graduate students who served on last year’s ECEGSA board: Rajat Ahuja, Celine Badr, Michael Black, Ashish Dobhal, Abhishek Kashyap, Wai-Shing Lee, Yinian Mao, Hulya Resul, Reza Salem, Mainak Sen, and Anuja Sonalker.

The following students were recognized for their participation on ECE departmental committees: Michael David Black, Ji Honghao, Sankalita Saha, Mainak Sen, Brooke Shrader, and Gelareh Taban.

Song Li received an award as the Best Student Speaker in the ECEGSA Seminar Series for the Spring 2006 semester, while Brooke Shrader received the award for the Fall 2005 semester. Azadeh Davoodi, Yijie Han, Yinian Mao, Nathan Moody, Reza Salem, and Aravind Sundaresan were also honored for their participation in the ECEGSA Seminar Series.

The ECEGSA staff awards went to Maria Hoo and Marion Devaney in recognition of their distinguished service to graduate students.

Finally, ECE Professor Dr. Andre Tits received an award in recognition of his dedication and distinguished service as the advisor to ECEGSA.
