Martins Gives Invited Talk at UCSD's Cymer Center

Assistant Professor Nuno Martins (ECE/ISR) gave an invited lecture at the Cymer Center for Control Systems and Dynamics at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), on Monday, May 18. The title of the talk was "Certifying the optimality of decentralized state-estimation policies, in the presence of communication costs." The talk focused on the design of optimal decentralized state estimators in the presence of communication costs.

Prof. Martins' research concentration focuses on the interface between control and information theory, with applications to decentralized and networked control, biological control systems, and applications of control to information theory. Prof. Martins serves as faculty advisor to the Robotics@Maryland student organization.

The Cymer Center, founded with help from Cymer Corporation, General Atomics, and the Jacobs School of Engineering, serves as a catalyst for interaction with industry and federal research sponsors, fosters collaborations with researchers from other fields, and recruits outstanding undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and faculty in control systems to UCSD.
