Barbe Hailed as "Transformational Leader"

ECE Professor and Executive Director of the Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute (MTECH) David Barbe was featured recently in an article in the Maryland Gazette that described him as a "transformational leader." The article cited his role in developing entrepreneurial programs at the University of Maryland, including the Hinman CEO Program, the Technology Startup Boot Camp, the $50K Business Plan Competition and several technology entrepreneurship courses.

Barbe has been credited for helping to establish an educational environment at Maryland that helps encourage young entrepreneurs to transform ideas into sustainable ventures. He was honored in March with the Olympus 2008 Lifetime of Educational Innovation Award in recognition of his contributions to Maryland's entrepreneurial programs, which have served as a model for other institutions across the nation.
