Faculty, Staff and Students Honored at ECE Welcome Back Reception

ECE faculty, staff, and students were honored at the Department’s Welcome Back Reception on Friday, September 15, 2006.

ECE Associate Professor Manoj Franklin was honored for his recent years of service as Associate Chair for Graduate Studies. ECE Chair Patick O’Shea commended Franklin for his dedicated advocacy for graduate studies, and his initiative and collaboration in the implementation of a new Ph.D. qualifying requirement, a comprehensive TA Training and Development Program, and recruiting initiatives such as Graduate Preview Day.

O’Shea honored staff members Tina Botti, Jay Renner, and India Tiller for five years of service; Maria Hoo for 15 years of service; and Dolores Harris for 25 years of service. Ted Knight received the 2005-2006 ECE Staff Award in recognition for his service to the Department.

The ECE Graduate Student Service Award was given to last year’s ECE Graduate Student Association (ECEGSA) President Mainak Sen. Mohamed Fahmi received the George Corcoran Memorial Award for a graduate student in recognition for his excellence in teaching.

The International Engineering Consortium’s William L. Everitt Student Award of Excellence was given to 2006 B.S. graduates Amir Ahmadi and Jeffrey Lee.
