ECE Student Wins GSNP Best Student Speaker Award

Sameer Hemmady, a Ph.D. student in electrical and computer engineering, won the Group on Statistical and Non-Linear Physics (GSNP) Student Speaker award at the 2006 American Physical Society (APS) March Meeting on Tuesday, March, 2006.

There were 12 nominations and five finalists for the national competition. The finalists spoke at the APS March Meeting in a special session on Tuesday morning. Sameer earned the best student speaker award for his talk, titled "Universal Impedance, Admittance and Scattering Fluctuations in Quantum-chaotic Systems." Sameer won a $500 cash prize as part of the award.

Sameer’s research advisors are Dr. Steven M. Anlage (PHY/ECE), Dr. Thomas M. Antonsen Jr. (ECE/PHY), and Dr. Edward Ott (ECE/PHY).
