Zou and Jhalani Receive IEC’s Everitt Award
ECE undergraduates Qin Zou and Divya Jhalani have received the International Engineering Consortium’s (IEC) William L. Everitt Student Award of Excellence. The award honors outstanding seniors in electrical and computer engineering at affiliate universities across the country who are in the top 10% of their class and have an interest in the communications field.
Zou, a May 2005 degree candidate, is a member of the ECE Honors program and participated in the summer 2004 MERIT research program. He worked with Dr. Carol Espy-Wilson on Acoustic Parameter Based Speech Recognition in a Noisy Environment. He also served as an Undergraduate Teaching Fellow for the ENEE 204 course. Zou will attend Stanford University in the fall for graduate study.
Jhalani, a computer engineering student and May 2005 degree candidate, is a member of the ECE Honors program. She participated in the summer 2004 MERIT program, where she studied automated face recognition with Dr. Rama Chellappa. She also did research under Dr. Bruce Jacob. She will attend the University of Wisconsin this fall for graduate study.
The students will have their names added to the Everitt Award Plaque in the display case in the A.V. Williams building outside of room 2460.
