Vishkin Receives Patent for Parallel Computing Systems Technology

Prof. Uzi Vishkin
The emergence of parallelism and parallel processing technologies has provided a growing opportunity for increased performance of computer systems. Many parallel systems are engineered to perform tasks with high or massive parallelism, but do not efficiently process serial code.
Prof. Vishkin's invention provides a processor/memory structure that allows serial programs to use quick local serial memories and parallel programs to use partitioned parallel memories. The system may switch between a serial mode and a parallel mode.
